King’s Parade Nr22 at night – original watercolour
Watercolour on paper – 16 x 30 cm | Framed size – 30 x 45 cm
This watercolor painting captures the stunning Ryder & Amies store, located within the reach of prestigious Cambridge University, as viewed from the King’s Parade. I crafted a serene night scene that exudes a sense of tranquility and calmness.
The painting showcases the iconic building of Ryder & Amies in all its grandeur, highlighting its unique architectural features. With warm hues I tried to capture the essence of a quiet, peaceful night. The warm light spilling out from the windows of the shop illuminates the building, casting a soft glow over the surrounding area.
Despite the absence of human presence, the painting still manages to convey a sense of life. Small birds can be seen perched on the building’s ledges, adding a touch of nature to the scene. The thin smoke emanating from the chimneys on the roof further emphasizes the stillness of the night. I wanted to showcase the beauty of Cambridge University’s – Ryder & Amies store, and capture a moment of peaceful serenity.
This original painting was created in my Cambridge studio using professional quality 'Schmincke' watercolours on the highest quality 'Arches' cotton paper.
