Narrow Boat Over King’s College – original watercolour
Watercolour on paper – 50 x 14 cm | Framed size – 64 x 28 cm
£670.00
Final watercolour painting of fantastic narrow boat approaching King’s College Chapel in Cambridge.
The watercolour painting captures a surreal and magical moment in time, where a narrow boat defies the laws of physics and gracefully hovers over a lush meadow. The scene is set in The Backs, a stunning and picturesque area to the east of Queen’s Road in the historic city of Cambridge. The boat, which appears to be mourned soon at the Cambridge University grounds, is not just any ordinary boat. It is a long, narrow canal boat.
On the boat, you can see a group of people basking in the warmth of a beautiful summer day. They are enjoying the scenery and each other’s company, with a glass of champagne in hand and a small picnic spread out on the boat’s roof. At the bow, a loyal canine companion sits, gazing wistfully towards the Cambridge skyline. In the distance, the magnificent architecture of Cambridge’s skyline is visible, dominated by the iconic King’s College Chapel.
I hope this painting will move viewer’s imagination by bringing together elements of nature, leisure, and architecture to create a unique and captivating piece.
